What we treat as specialty
Gun safes, pool tables, hot tubs, large gym equipment, and oversized furniture like sectional sofas or armoires all get flagged during the estimate so the right crew size and gear show up on the day.
A safe alone can weigh several hundred pounds concentrated in a small footprint, which is a completely different balance problem than a dresser of the same weight spread over a wider base.
The right gear is not optional
Heavy duty straps, a stair climbing dolly, and furniture blankets rated for real weight are standard on any job with a safe or a pool table on the list. A furniture dolly meant for a bookshelf is not built for this.
Pool tables in particular come apart in a specific order, slate first, and go back together with the same leveling process used when the table was first installed.
Doorways, stairs, and tight turns
Before the day, we ask for measurements of the item and every doorway, hallway turn, and stair landing on the route out. On tricky houses in the older parts of Cedar Park or Leander, we will come look in person.
This is how a heavy item avoids getting stuck halfway through a doorway with nowhere to go, which is the moment most do it yourself moves go wrong.
Protecting the floors along the way
A gun safe or a hot tub dragged across a hardwood floor leaves a mark that outlasts the move by years. Runners and floor protection go down before the item ever starts moving, at both the old address and the new one.
Booking a specialty item with a regular move
A specialty item can be added onto a normal residential or long distance move, or booked on its own if it is the only thing on the list. Either way, tell us about it up front so the crew and the truck are sized correctly from the start.
